About the Show
Do you live for some good twang? Modern American music has a longstanding connection the traditions of bluegrass, country, and folk from the Western United States and Appalachia. The American bluegrass and folk tradition itself is rooted in a profound emotion and authenticity seldom found ‘these days’ in the mainstream. However, if you really think to look (or listen to this show), the influence of the bluegrass genre has extended itself far away from the mountains into modern genres of country, folk, “newgrass,” and even emo. In this show, I will attempt to trace the pipeline to alternative rock and country through a bluegrass lens, looking at the various influences of rural American tradition in modern music.
